The Greek Revival
Style goes back to the 18th century in America. It was popular in
stately homes in both the North and South. Many of the buildings in
Washington, DC are built in this style, and many churches, libraries
and courthouses were built in this style. The
homes of many of the Founding Fathers were built in Greek Revival
style, such as Washington (Mount Vernon), Jefferson (Monticello),
Madison (Montpelier) and others. It's
distinctive features include large stone, pillars, wide-angle rooflines
and tall windows.

Ben has put in the scrollwork at the top of the pillars, and routed
the molding for the front of the roofline for an authentic Greek Revival
look. He has hand-etched and hand-pained the corner-stones of the
building as well. Even the detail of the porch railings and supports
are authentic to the style.
