This beautiful English Tudor birdhouse is constructed of high quality Southern Yellow Pine by my son, artisan and craftsman Ben Murch. The window and door frames and the screened porch are constructed of red oak. Ben reproduced the entire home from a photo on the internet (at right above). This two-nest birdhouse is functional with several features that we include in all our birdhouses such as:

  • 3/4" solid pine construction recommended for insulation from both heat and cold.
  • Thick bird openings and no perches outside of bird holes, which protects small songbirds from larger predators.
  • Ventilation along eaves to keep birds from suffocating heat.
  • Removable roof for easy clean-out in between bird families.

The front steps, although made of wood, are painted to look like slate, and a closeup view shows the faint color patterns of real natural slate.

Ben has perfected his method of reproducing brick, which is evident in this piece. He has hand-etched the mortar on every brick, and hand-painted each brick over a base coat of brick red to render the look of thousands of individual bricks. The base dimensions are 20" x 22" and the house is 16" high.

The shrubbery around the house is real moss, preserved with polyurethane.

Even the inside of the beautiful arched entrance features the hand-etched brickwork. This English Tudor would make a great centerpiece for your landscaping, or decor for your front yard.
